2026The challenge
Japanese overwhelms by its density. Mainstream apps, by their shallowness.
Between austere textbooks and apps that turn study into a collection game, a serious tool was missing: one that could take a complete beginner to JLPT N5 without drowning them in a thousand notions at once.
Most apps gamify the surface and leave the learner guessing at meaning. Hibi had to do the opposite: keep the rigour of a curriculum, without its weight.

A serious syllabus, held by three deliberate choices.
01 · Principle
Never a word ahead of time
Every example reuses only what's already been seen. Vocabulary and grammar move forward together, never one without the other.
02 · Memory
FSRS spaced repetition
A spaced-repetition engine decides what to review, and when. The learner follows the thread, the algorithm handles the rest.
03 · Form
A calming “Sakura” look
A “Sakura” art direction and “in the mist” stories make study a calm moment, not a race for points.
